Respect for the original designer, artist and glazier is always paramount.
The progress of a restoration depends on a number of important factors;
- Is it a monumental window?
- Is it a listed building?
- What is Restoration Ethics? should the restoration be reversible?
- Which artist made it?
- Which techniques have been used?
- Can those techniques be reproduced, if not, what are the alternatives and what is the expected result?
Research will be conducted into comparable works by the same artist / glazier in order to obtain the clearest possible picture of the method and techniques used.
Depending on these factors, a plan of action is drawn up that clearly describes which path to take and what the ultimate result should be.
Even when it comes to the restoration of a non-monumental or museum window, the greatest care is always taken.
