As a restorer of paintings you bear a great responsibility towards the owner and his valuable painting. It is your mission to restore the painting to the best possible condition as the painter once intended. You don't just restore for yourself, it is your job to restore the painting to top condition, so that future generations can also enjoy the work of art.
With various visual artists I have learned to look closely, what do you really see. After a 4-year training as a restoration professional at Syntra training in Tongeren and a specialization at the Academy of Visual Arts in Anderlecht, I work as an independent restorer.
Keeping up to date with new developments in the field is a must. I regularly attend workshops, courses and symposia. Partly by having good contact with other restorers, you will be challenged and you will continue to expand your knowledge.
